Cars 3 is just around the corner and while it’s practically been confirmed that Lightning McQueen will not die, it hasn’t stopped Disney from using his horrific accident in every trailer. The trailer also hints that the accident is caused by McQueen’s newest rival, Jackson Storm.

Cars 4: The Last Ride is an upcoming 2025 American 3D computer-animated comedy-adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It will likely be the final installment in the Cars franchise, although director Brian Fee and has expressed his interest in making a Cars 5.

Character. Doc Hudson (voiced by Paul Newman in his last non-documentary film role and in his only animated film role) was Radiator Springs’ local physician. His license plate read 51HHMD which was a reference to his year and track number (51), model (Hudson Hornet) and profession (medical doctor).

The circumstances of how Doc died are unknown. John Lasseter was at first adamant that Paul Newman would return to voice Doc Hudson, even though he had announced his retirement from acting. After Newman’s death, Lasseter said that they would see how the story goes with Doc Hudson.

Even though the town of Radiator Springs in Disney’s “Cars” is a fictional town, Tucumcari is a real desert town on the Historic Route 66 in New Mexico. Tucumcari played a big role in inspiring the movie “Cars” from the neon light hotels, to the expansive desert mountains in the backdrop.

Mater

Mater. This tow truck from the Pixar’s Cars movie, is Lightning McQueen’s best friend. This ruralite “world champion backwards driver” was actually blue, but rusted over and missing a headlight. He is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy.

Chick Hicks

The Tow Mater we encountered was actually based upon a 1948 Ford truck with an International Harvester box sitting on a Chevy 4×4 chassis. Its owner was a guy named Chuck Hallett and it was obvious he had a creative side when it came to building his truck.

As Mater introduces everyone to the agents, Holley mentions that she is Mater’s girlfriend, which also surprises Guido, as he and Luigi had not believed Mater claiming so back in Japan.

Name: Tow Mater or just Mater (Tow is his first name and Mater is his last name) Type of Vehicle: An Old North American Tow Truck or a 1951 International Harvester L-170 “boom” truck with elements of a mid-1957 Chevrolet 3800.

When the Pixar crew first traveled down Route 66, the studio’s “story guru,” Joe Ranft, became inspired by a rusty old pickup truck he saw in a junkyard near Galena, Kan. That truck provided much of the template to the equally rusty and rickety Mater.

Sir Tow Mater KBE, or simply Tow Mater, or Mater is one of the main characters of the Disney•Pixar Cars franchise. He is a major character in Cars, the protagonist of Cars 2 and a supporting character in Cars 3.
