San Diego, California, U.S. Karl Strauss Brewing Company is a San Diego, California-based craft brewery with eleven brewpub locations across Southern California and an onsite tasting room at their main brewery in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego.

After 25 years in business in La Jolla, Karl Strauss has permanently shuttered its brewpub and restaurant on Wall Street, the company announced this week. The San Diego-based brewer said the company had made the “difficult decision” to close its longtime location in the seaside community.

Karl Strauss was destined to brew beer. Born in 1912 on the premises of his father’s brewery in Minden, Germany, he spent his childhood playing amid beer barrels and sacks of fresh hops and barley.
