It shouldn’t. Restarting the service should have the same effect as restarting the server to the clients. They (clients) should be fine unless they reboot while you are restarting the services.

Starting, stopping, and restarting the DHCP service affects the running of the daemon only at the current session. For example, if you stop the DHCP service, the currently running daemon terminates but restarts when you reboot the system. DHCP data tables are not affected by stopping the service.

Deleting the lease will cause other machines to be able to get that IP. What you want is either to run ipconfig /renew via psexec or to script the renew in PowerShell and run it remotely. Alternatively, if the users reboot they should get the new configuration options.

How to Delete IP Addresses from DHCP Service (DHCP Manager)

1. Select the Addresses tab.
2. Select the IP address’s network.
3. Select one or more IP addresses you want to delete.
4. Choose Delete from the Edit menu.
5. If you want to delete the host names from the hosts table, select Delete From Hosts Table.
6. Click OK.

From the Data Management tab, select the DHCP tab -> Leases tab -> Current Leases. Click the check boxes beside the IP addresses of the leases you want to clear, and then click the Clear Lease icon.

Depending on your network, it may be possible to stop all DHCP responses from everything except your authorised DHCP Server.

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

1. Open your web browser, type the router? s IP address and press Enter.
2. To log in enter your username and password.
3. Go to Advanced Setup > LAN IP and DHCP Setting.
4. Select the Disable box next to DHCP Server.
