It’s important to note, especially for new investors, that stock splits don’t make a company’s shares any better of a buy than prior to the split. Of course, the stock is then cheaper, but after a split the share of company ownership is less than pre-split. Apple was trading around $500 per share before the split.

The company announced it would spin off its managed infrastructure services businesses, effectively splitting the company into two separate tech stocks. IBM shareholders will hold a stake in IBM and receive shares of “NewCo,” the temporary name for the new company, in the split.

Having grown by 16.6% since the end of 2020 IBM’s stock (NYSE: IBM) seems to be above its near term potential. The company’s stock grew after its earnings release of Q1 2021 as the company beat consensus market estimates for both revenue and earnings.

To create a WebSphere profile:

1. Choose Start | All Programs | IBM WebSphere | Application Server | Profile Creation Wizard.
2. On the Welcome to the Profile Creation Wizard screen, click Next.
3. On the Profile Name screen, enter a Profile name and click Next.

The default is JazzSMNode01. Enter the name of the server contained in the WebSphere Application Server profile. The default is server1. Provide the user that can access the WebSphere Application Server profile.

Create the deployment manager portion of the cell profile. Create the appserver portion of the cell profile. You must use the same values for the cellName, nodeName, and appServerNodeName parameters that you used in the deployment manager portion of the cell profile.

A cell is a logical grouping of nodes that enables common administative activities in a WebSphere Application Server distributed environment. A node is a logical group of one or more application servers on a physical computer. The node name is unique within the cell.

Procedure

1. In the search field, enter Cell .
2. From the search results, click WebSphere Cell.
3. Click Add or New.
4. Define the basic properties: Name, administrative state, and descriptive summary.

After installing the core product files for the WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment product, you must create a profile. A custom profile is an empty node that you can customize to include application servers, clusters, or other Java processes, such as a messaging server.

There are multiple types of profile available in WebSphere. You can create a WebSphere Application Server profile in two ways. In this post, will use GUI to create a Cell profile. In next screen, you will have the option to select the profile creation process.

You can create profiles with the Profile Management Tool using the typical profile creation process or the advanced profile creation process. The typical profile creation process uses default settings and assigns unique port values. You can optionally set values as allowed.

WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is a software product that performs the role of a web application server. More specifically, it is a software framework and middleware that hosts Java-based web applications. It is the flagship product within IBM’s WebSphere software suite.
