The HP Pavilion g6 is a mainstream multimedia laptop that pits itself against the likes of the Acer Aspire 5740G and the popular Dell Inspiron 15R series. Hardware

There are no graphics ‘cards’ in your notebook. There is a GPU which is soldered and integrated onto the motherboard. The only way to upgrade the graphics, would be to replace the motherboard with one listed in the service manual which may have better graphics.

The pavillion g6 can be upgraded to maximum an i5 480M which is dual core one.

The g6 series is not supported by HP for Windows 10, so you will get no help from HP.

Can you run Windows 10 on a PC that’s eight years old? Oh yes, and it runs spectacularly well.

Can you run and install Windows 10 on a 9-year-old PC? Yes you can! I installed the only version of Windows 10 I had in ISO form at the time: Build 10162. It’s a few weeks old and the last technical preview ISO released by Microsoft before pausing the entire program.

Save your settings, reboot your computer and you should now be able to install Windows 10.

Windows 10 has a built-in method for wiping your PC and restoring it to an ‘as new’ state. You can choose to preserve just your personal files or to erase everything, depending on what you need. Go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery, click Get started and select the appropriate option.

How do I reinstall Windows without a disk?

1. Go to “Start” > “Settings” > “Update & Security” > “Recovery”.
2. Under “Reset this PC option”, tap “Get Started”.
3. Choose “Remove everything” and then choose to “Remove files and clean the drive”.
4. Finally, click “Reset” to begin reinstalling Windows 10.

Connect the USB flash drive to a new PC. Turn on the PC and press the key that opens the boot-device selection menu for the computer, such as the Esc/F10/F12 keys. Select the option that boots the PC from the USB flash drive. Windows Setup starts.

How to boot from USB Windows 10

1. Alter the BIOS sequence on your PC so your USB device is first.
2. Install the USB device on any USB port on your PC.
3. Restart your PC.
4. Watch for a “Press any key to boot from external device” message on your display.
5. Your PC should boot from your USB drive.

If you prefer to use the newest version of Windows, though, there’s a way to run Windows 10 directly through a USB drive. You’ll need a USB flash drive with at least 16GB of free space, but preferably 32GB. You’ll also need a license to activate Windows 10 on the USB drive.
