The noun ‘hair’ is used to refer to an entire surface of hair (our head, cat’s fur, etc.) The plural ‘hairs’ is used to talk about a single or multiple (countable) strands of hair. So, the word ‘hairs’ isn’t incorrect but it isn’t always used to signify the plural form of ‘hair’.

How To Ask For A Haircut

1. Know what haircut or style you want before you visit your barber.
2. If you want a fade, know how short (hair clipper size) and where it should start (high, mid or low).
3. Think about the length of hair you want on top.
4. Make sure you’re happy with your neckline, sideburns, and hairline before leaving!

‘Number 2 haircut’ will give you a slightly longer cut – 1/4 of an inch. It is one of the most popular haircut lengths out there, as it gives you a nice short hair that doesn’t show the scalp. It can work perfectly on both thick or thin hair.

The number 5 haircut, being above half an inch leaves a lot of hair at the top of the head. The number 5 haircut leaves us to be able to style it into many different styles like the side parted hairstyles and many fades. Sometimes even quiff and fringe hairstyles are possible with this haircut.

A number 4 haircut is used to get 1/2 inch of hair. The #4 clipper size will not produce a very short buzz cut, and starts to border on a brush or crew cut. As the middle length available on most clippers, a number 4 guard provides a reasonable length of hair for more conservative haircuts and styles.

Thinned. If you have thick hair and wish to reduce its volume, try asking your stylist to thin out your hair. Pick up your clippers, snap the “number 4” guard on them, and buzz away at your sideburns until you approach the crown of your head. When you’re getting close, start flicking the clippers “away” from yourself, which will blend your hair neatly into your scalp.

Asking for a crew cut is easy. Just tell your barber you want one, how you want the sides faded, and the length to leave on top, and he’ll take care of the rest. If you want to be able to sweep your hair in the front, ask your barber to leave a little extra length in the fringe.
