(Greenville-AP) June 19, 2003 – Furman University won’t be a dry campus anymore as it ends a 177-year alcohol ban. The college has adopted a new policy that allows alcohol at private, catered events at three campus buildings and its golf course beginning August 30th.

The Wofford Activities Council plans all kinds of neat activities for students. We have concerts frequently. Parties do happen every weekend, but it’s not something that everyone does. There’s no pressure to go out and party.

The College’s Co-Founders: Anna Todd Wofford and Maria Barron Wofford. Though it was Benjamin Wofford’s will that provided for the founding of Wofford College, without the two women who were his wives, there would have been no funds for a bequest.

As an institution related to the United Methodist Church, Wofford seeks to create a campus atmosphere congenial to spiritual development and social justice. The Methodist heritage fosters on the campus an appreciation of many faiths and a free exchange of ideas.

Wofford’s athletic teams, known as the Terriers, compete in the Southern Conference in the NCAA Division I. Wofford has 18 men’s and women’s varsity programs. Wofford College practices a 4-1-4 semester schedule, with a four-month fall semester and a four-month spring semester.
