All human beings are equal before the law and have the right to equal protection and benefit of the law. Equal treatment, as an aspect of equality, is not equivalent to identical treatment.

The Declaration of Principles, signed by the PLO and Israel, contains a set of mutually agreed-upon general principles regarding the 5-year interim period of Palestinian self-rule.

The principle of equality states that equal cases should be treated equally, and that a difference in treatment requires that we can identify a morally relevant difference. From the outset, the two principles are neutral with regard to the tension between utilitarianism and duty ethics.

The principle of equal treatment establishes that all people – and in the context of the workplace, all workers – have the right to receive the same treatment and not to be discriminated against on the basis of criteria such as age, disability, nationality, race and religion.

Democracy is built upon the idea of political equality where all people irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, colour, race,sex can participate in political system and elections. It relies upon the idea that each and every person has the right to voice in political system and administration of the country.

What is equality? Equality is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents. It is also the belief that no one should have poorer life chances because of the way they were born, where they come from, what they believe, or whether they have a disability.
