Elsa is a ROUND character because we see more than one side of her personality. Elsa is also a DYNAMIC character because she does undergo huge personality changes throughout the movie.

Fix is a flat and static character.

Flat characters are two-dimensional in that they are relatively uncomplicated and do not change throughout the course of a work. By contrast, round characters are complex and undergo development, sometimes sufficiently to surprise the reader.

Characteristics of a Round Character

• Complex Personality. There should be multiple facets to their personality. They should resemble a real-life person in their complexity.
• They Usually Change. Most of the time, a round character is also dynamic.
• They Create Believability. Real people are complex.
• They are Surprising.

Character is defined as a trait, quality or high moral code. An example of character is someone who is known for being funny. The definition of a character is a unique symbol, letter or mark used in writing. An example of character is an asterisk. An example of character is the at symbol.

7 Character Roles in Stories. If we categorize character types by the role they play in a narrative, we can hone in on seven distinct varieties: the protagonist, the antagonist, the love interest, the confidant, deuteragonists, tertiary characters, and the foil.

Character role refers to the part that one plays in the story. As you probably know, the most important role in any story is the protagonist (which we’ll discuss below). This means all other roles stem from their relationship to the protagonist.

Antagonist – The antagonist is the character(s) (or situation) that represents the opposition against which the protagonist must contend. In other words, the antagonist is an obstacle that the protagonist must overcome.

In talk about literature, this has led to the development of a crude but useful terminological distinction of two sorts of characterization: “static” and “dynamic.” A static character, in this vocabulary, is one that does not undergo important change in the course of the story, remaining essentially the same at the end …

Characters change because:

• The experiences they undergo during the story alter their perception of the world, of other characters, and of themselves.
• The world is changing around them and they need to adapt.
• They travel to a new world and need to adapt to it.
• They’re growing older.
