1 million visitors

Dublin Zoo is initially limiting its daily allowance of visitors to two daily slots with 500 hundred people maximum in each session, less than 10% of usual capacity at any one time. The morning session will run from 9.30 -13.00 and an afternoon session from 14.00-17.30.

We are delighted to announce that following the recent announcement from Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Dublin Zoo will be open to the public from the 26th of April 2021 in a reduced capacity and under strict health and safety protocols. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dublin Zoo!

Zoo director Christoph Schwitzer said it costs about €1 million a month to run the facility, with the cost of animal care alone reaching €500,000 each month.

Open daily from 9.30am – 7.30pm In line with the latest government directives, face coverings will be worn by our retail staff and must be worn by all customers when in the Dublin Zoo Gift Shop.

According to Senior Keeper Brendan Walsh, the facility, which opened in 1830, costs €500,000 per month to run.

The Fuel Allowance is a payment of €28.00 per week for 28 weeks (a total of €784 each year) from October to April, to over 372,000 low income households, at an estimated cost of €300 million in 2021. The purpose of this payment is to assist these households with their energy costs.
