Dragon Quest Builders 2 multiplayer can only be played with friends, or friends of friends, and you can only play it on your Island of Awakening. Choose to go online and Malroth will vanish. From here you can invite friends. You can also open it up to friends of friends.

There is no splitscreen local co-op multiplayer in Dragon Quest XI. The game is wholly a single-player affair.

The Co-Op Experience Up to 4 players can team up online or via local wireless play using 4 different systems to build anything you can imagine on the Vacant Island. As you progress through the single-player story, you will be able to invite players to your Vacant Island, as well as visit other players’ Vacant Islands.

Dragon Quest Builders is currently available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, and luckily Square Enix is letting the two groups play together. You’ll need a PS Plus subscription if you’re a PS4 player, and a Nintendo Online sub if you’re on Switch.

You cannot invite a friend to join until you have completed Lulu’s Demands on the Isle of Awakening, ventured to Furrowfield to help the villagers rebuild their farm, and then returned to the Isle of Awakening. This is a long list of tasks, as the Furrowfield storyline can easily take five hours to complete.

Before I get onto my impressions, it’s worth knowing that like the first Dragon Quest Builders, which was based off the first Dragon Quest, this sequel is also connected to Dragon Quest II.

Overall, if you like RPG’s or building games like Minecraft, this is a game you shouldn’t overlook! Dragon Quest Builders is such an underrated game that truly deserves all of the high ratings that it has been getting – I mean, there really aren’t that many games out there that have had me as hooked as this one.

It’s still a good game but just go into it expecting it to be a little more frustrating since is their first go at it. The most major annoyance will be that getting too close to an enemy’s hitbox will do damage to you even if it looks like there is no actual contact.
