One of the biggest movie stars of 2016 is Dory, a precocious and forgetful fish featured in “Finding Dory.” Dory is a cartoon depiction of a Paracanthurus hepatus, a type of surgeonfish that also has many common names.

DON’T EAT DORY. The Paracanthurus hepatus has poisonous flesh. Eating it may cause ciguatera, a foodborne illness passed on by certain reef fish that have toxins in its flesh. If you happened to accidentally ingest one, it probably wouldn’t kill you—but you’d likely come down with a bad case of diarrhea.

What the British like about Cod is its flaky texture. Aside from the fact that the Dory is a fish bred in either a river (Basa) or pond (Tra) and that it was called Dory rather than catfish because the John Dory is a much sexier (and more expensive) fish, these fish are nowhere near the size of a Cod.

Choose small fish such as tarakihi, blue cod, hoki, John Dory, gurnard and flounder. Keep a stock of canned fish and eat two or three fish meals each week.
