Visit https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/checkSSUPStatus/checkupdatestatus and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Number. Now enter URN or SRN on the required field and enter the captcha code. Now click on the ‘Check Status’ option and the status of your Aadhaar Card address update will be displayed on your device screen.

Again, visit the UIDAI website and click on the ‘Proceed to Update Address’ link. After that, log in with your Aadhaar number, select the option to ‘Update Address via Secret Code’, enter ‘Secret Code’. Review the new address and click on ‘Submit’

You can update your address without proof. As per the UIDAI website, you will need the Aadhaar number of the person who will act as a verifier for you. Just keep in mind that, the verifier’s Aadhaar number should have a mobile number registered with it.

Log in using your Aadhaar ID and choose the Update Address via Secret Code option. Enter the code to proceed. Verify the new address and click on Submit. You will now receive an Update Request Number which you can use to check the status of your request.

The UIDAI asks the resident to confirm the addresses (from the multiple address proof) on which he/ she wants his/ her Aadhaar letter to be delivered. Based on resident’s choice, UIDAI captures the detail as per supporting documents.

An individual can get another copy of Aadhaar card from the official website of UIDAI by providing the enrollment number mentioned in the acknowledgement slip provided at the time of enrolling for the Aadhaar card.

Steps for getting Duplicate Aadhar Card by contacting UIDAI

1. Call the UIDAI’s toll-free number 1947 or 1800-180-1947.
2. Now, follow the IVR options and talk to the Aadhaar executive.
3. As your call is connected to the Aadhaar executive, request with the executive for a duplicate copy of your Aadhaar card.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit identification number the UIDAI issues to the residents of India. However, once generated, there is no process to cancel or surrender Aadhaar, even after the death of a person. Also, there is no provision to even update information about a holder’s death in the Aadhaar database.
