Ford Mercon is now Dexron 6.

SynGard™ Multi-Vehicle Dexron® VI and Mercon® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is a full synthetic ATF licensed by General Motors for Dexron VI fluids and by Ford Motor Company for Mercon LV fluids. This ultra-premium fluid can serve most ATF applications, allowing consolidation of inventory for ATFs.

KLONDIKE DEXRON®-VI / MERCON® LV Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is an OEM approved fluid registered with General Motors for DEXRON®-VI and Ford Motor Company for MERCON® LV. This specification is fully backwards compatible and replaces all previous generation DEXRON fluids.

KLONDIKE DEXRON®-VI / MERCON® LV Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is a highly advanced, premium low viscosity automatic transmission fluid designed for use in vehicles manufactured by General Motors and Ford where DEXRON®-VI and/or MERCON® LV fluids are specified.

Motorcraft® MERCON® LV is a premium-quality automatic transmission fluid recommended by Ford Motor Company for use in Ford and Lincoln vehicles that require MERCON® LV type fluid. This product also provides excellent performance in electronically controlled automatic transmissions.

DEXRON-VI can be used in any proportion in past model vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, in place of DEXRON-III (for instance, topping off the fluid in the event of a repair or fluid change). DEXRON-VI is also compatible with any former version of DEXRON for use in automatic transmissions.

DEXRON® offers two varieties of ATF, Standard DEXRON®-VI and DEXRON®-HP (High Performance), used in situations where low temperature fluidity and potential fuel economy are priorities. Dexron-HP is the only fluid to be used in the new 8-sp trans. Dexron-HP is full synthetic, Dexron-VI is a synthetic blend.

Dex VI is licensed by GM so it has to meet their specs no matter the brand.
