While not as powerful as many other Great Old Ones and being dwarfed in scale by the Outer Gods that he serves, Cthulhu is still a very powerful entity. Being near godlike to humans, Cthulhu is immortal and has great strength and can endure great amounts of damage and can only be killed by a near-omnipotent power.

R’lyehian

The Chorazos Cult is a sect dedicated to the Outer God Yog-Sothoth. The cult was founded in the mountains of Romania in the late 16th century, but later moved to England and then Scotland.

Cthulhu represents the fear of the unknown. As quoted by H.P Lovecraft himself: “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” Also take in consideration that Cthulhu brings fear and madness just by looking at him.

It’s main goal is to reawaken with the rest of the great old ones when the stars are right. Then reclaim the universe.

Cthulhu was a possible boss. While Cthulhu itself never made an appearance in Terraria, a number of enemies and items include direct and indirect references to Cthulhu.

If I remember correctly Cthulhu will wake when “the stars are right”. They all lay in stone houses in Their great city of R’lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once more be ready for Them.

Cthylla, also known as The Kraken or The Secret One, is an offspring of Cthulhu and Idh-yaa. She is the daughter of Cthulhu, and is critical to his plans, as should Cthulhu somehow die, Cthylla will give birth to him once again.

Cthulhu is a fiction character and the greater-scope main antagonist of Call Of Cthulhu. It is a fictional cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft and was introduced in his short story The Call of Cthulhu written in 1928, on which this game is based.

The word “fhtagn” in “R’lyehian” (sometimes called “Cthuvian”) was created, as part of the sentence “Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn”, by H. P. Lovecraft in his short story “The Call of Cthulhu”, first published in Weird Tales (June, 1928). The word means “waits”, “dreams”, or “sleeps”.

In the plot, Cthulhu is the alpha creature to a large swarm of underwater spawns, possibly Deep Ones or Xothians, but also never named in the film. He seems to behave with normal animalistic instincts, with no true malice. He acts as a kind of guardian of the abyss.

Cthulhu has become Lovecraft’s most famous monster because, unlike many others, Cthulhu is well-described and easy to envision and depict. “The Call of Cthulhu” has probably become famous largely because it is the story that most prominently stars this iconic character.
