The People Just Do Nothing star plays a TV aerial installer who gets stuck in a skylight in the latest commercial, which has the catchline, voiced by Paddy McGuinness: ‘When life gives you potatoes, make crisps. ‘

The advert stars British comedy actress Jessica Knappett as a woman who’s less than enthusiastic about taking her child to a soft play centre.

Lineker has been a part of the Walkers brand for 25 years, and in October signed a contract extending his services until 2023. As part of the contract, the ex-footballer, 60, bagged a monstrous £1.2million.

Lineker has appeared in television commercials for the Leicester-based snack company Walkers. Originally signing a £200,000 deal in 1994, his first advert was 1995’s “Welcome Home” (Lineker had recently returned to England having played in Japan).

Walkers: One of the biggest crisp brands in the UK and Ireland. The former Three Lions forward has been the face of its adverts since 1995. Recent reports have indicated that Lineker earns an impressive £1.5m per year from this role.

The best fan from each of the 15 flavours won £10,000.

According to various sources, Gary Lineker wealth is an estimated £30 million. The Match of the Day presenter is known around the world for his role as one of football’s top pundits. Lineker has an endorsement deal with Walkers Crisps, an agreement that earns the Leicester legend around £1.5 million each year.

A TV ad that first aired last night (2 June) during Britain’s Got Talent, then shows the Spice Girls surprise their best ever fan, only to find he won’t share his Walker’s crisps with them. “We didn’t want it to be just a Walkers contest we wanted it to come from the Spice Girls as we thought it would give us more credibility and engagement.

“It is not just enjoyment from eating a pack of Walkers but at every touchpoint of the brand. Everything from now on from Walkers has to lead to enjoyment,” he explains. The new brand positioning was developed after a week-long programme designed to generate ideas.
