Aluminum Deoxidizer is a very special acid-based chemical that strictly eats oxidation. It does not remove metal. It works on all metal surfaces. It is so mild, that when applied there is no need to wipe or wash it off.

A deoxidizer is a chemical used in a reaction or process to remove oxygen. In comparison with antioxidants, deoxidizers are not used for stabilization during storage but for oxygen removal during manufacture. Deoxidizers are mainly used in metallurgy, to decrease the content of oxygen in metals.

Carbon (coke), silicone, aluminum and other elements are used for slag deoxidation. Since deoxidizers in the difusion method are not introduced directly into the steel melt, oxide non-metallic inclusions do not form. Diffusion deoxidation allows to produce steel less contaminated by non-metallic inclusions.

We say the steel is “killed” because it will quietly solidify in the mould, with no gas bubbling out. As a result, killed steel is dense in structure, uniform in composition, and not so segregative as other types of steels. During the steel making process, oxygen may become dissolved in the liquid metal.

If you are cleaning a large aluminum surface, soak a cloth in vinegar, then wipe it across the oxidation. Scrub with a soft-bristled brush, then wipe away the vinegar and lifted oxidation with a damp cloth.

Mix 1 tablespoon white vinegar with 2 cups of warm water in a bucket or use this ratio to make a larger amount, depending on what you are cleaning. Wet a cloth or non-abrasive pad in the vinegar-water mixture and then use it to clean the aluminum surface gently.

WD40 is not made to be a cleanser but a dissolver. It will remove dirt and grime and if used in the long term it can ruin the finish of your aluminum exterior or other parts. It is possible that you can clean up some tarnish and some oxidation that has formed on the metal but that too may only be a short-term solution.

Wash as normal with soap and hot water. For tough stains, you may need to scrub gently with a steel wool pad. You can substitute lemon juice for the vinegar. If you have aluminum utensils that are discolored, put them in the boiling water and leave for 10 minutes.
