Thunderstorms arise when layers of warm, moist air rise in a large, swift updraft to cooler regions of the atmosphere. There the moisture contained in the updraft condenses to form towering cumulonimbus clouds and, eventually, precipitation.

Strong winds from any storm type can damage or destroy vehicles, buildings, bridges, and other outside objects, turning loose debris into deadly flying projectiles.

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. The Father is with you and will keep you anchored until this storm passes. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Jesus was asleep on a cushion in the stern, and the disciples woke him and asked, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” The Gospel of Mark then states that: He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm.

• The storm of redirection.
• The storm to check your faith.
• The storm to release you from your situation.

How To Trust God In The Storm

1. Pour your heart out to your heavenly Father. He already knows what your feeling and the thoughts in your head so begin speaking it.
2. Remember that God hears and answers every prayer, not on our timetable but His, and not always with the answer we want to hear.

We hear the promises of Him being with us like in Joshua 1:9 which says “Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Also, we hear in Psalm 145: 18–19 that “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Storms refine our faith. Adversity stretches us, and causes us to trust more and more in Christ for our needs and for our strength. Trials are the “classroom” for our spiritual development. Storms are not always due to disobedience.

Peace in the Midst of the Storm Search him out when you are afraid. Call out his name, ask for his strength. We can be secure and calm amid the storms when we focus on all the promises of Jesus. Pick out one verse about peace that has spoken to you- write it out, keep it handy.

Isaiah 41:13. When we feel anxious and afraid we can take comfort in knowing that God is reaching out His hand to us to help us trust Him and walk with Him.
