For most infections, you’ll start to feel better within a few days. Usually you take co-amoxiclav 3 times a day. The most common side effects of co-amoxiclav are diarrhoea, thrush and feeling or being sick.

It’s fine to take over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin while you’re taking amoxicillin, assuming these are appropriate for you.

Paracetamol is one of the safest painkillers and rarely causes side effects. It’s safe to use paracetamol at the same time as taking most antibiotics. Taking antibiotics at the same time as paracetamol shouldn’t cause any problems.

Space the doses evenly over the day. Co-amoxiclav can be taken either with or without food, on a full or empty stomach. If you find it upsets your stomach, taking it with food may help. Try to drink plenty of fluids while you’re taking co-amoxiclav.

Augmentin and amoxicillin are two types of antibiotics. Antibiotics help treat bacterial infections that may be too strong for the body’s immune system to clear. The two drugs are very similar.

Dosage for adults (including the elderly) and children over 12: The usual dose is 375mg three times a day, preferably every 8 hours, for a maximum of 14 days. For more severe infections: One 625mg tablet three times a day.

Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that is frequently combined with Amoxicillin or Ticarcillin to fight antibiotic resistance by preventing their degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes, broadening their spectrum of susceptible bacterial infections.

Amoxicillin is usually the first choice for tooth infection treatment. Clavulanate is a drug that makes amoxicillin even more effective when the two are combined. So, if it appears that your tooth infection is more serious, your dentist may prescribe amoxicillin with clavulanate instead of plain amoxicillin.

For adults and children ≥ 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav provides a total daily dose of 1500 mg amoxicillin/375 mg clavulanic acid, when administered as recommended below.

Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid is a combination penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.

No interactions were found between amoxicillin and caffeine. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. Always consult your healthcare provider.
