The Daily Brushing Method Use a curry comb, a round rubber knobby brush, all over your short-haired dog’s coat to remove dead skin, dirt, and hair. Your short haired dog will still need to be brushed out for better control of shedding.

I believe you can use the brush on long or short hair cats. You probably won’t get the amount of hair off short hairs because they don’t have as much undercoat. I know my son uses a furminator on his short hair dog and it still works. So you wouldn’t have to have 2 brushes for your long and short hair cats.

Baking soda works great for times when your dog needs to smell fresh but you don’t have time for a shampoo bath. Dry washes can be performed with baking soda and cornstarch or even a dry shampoo from your local pet store.

For dogs and other easy-to-bathe pets, you will need Dawn dish detergent. Using Dawn is recommended because it works best for killing the fleas where other brands may not, and it’s the safest for your pet.
