If you know anything about what went on behind the scenes of The Vampire Diaries, you’ll know that the biggest source of drama came from Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s three-year relationship.

Later, Klaus is staked by Alaric, and it is then assumed that Katherine, Damon, Stefan, Caroline, Tyler and Abby will die. However, Bonnie took action before he was staked, and told Tyler that if Klaus possessed him, and if [Klaus’ body] was staked, that the others wouldn’t die, only Tyler would.

Unknown to Caroline, Tyler is being possessed by Klaus so, while Caroline is crying to Tyler and saying her goodbyes, it is really Klaus. He tells her “You’re strong, and you have a beautiful future ahead of you.” They then kiss, which is Klaus and Caroline’s first kiss, unbeknownst to Caroline.

Caroline’s and Klaus’ stories diverge when Hayley, a werewolf who betrayed Caroline and Tyler (eliminating her, having twelve hybrids destroyed, and eliminating Tyler’s mother and forcing him to go on the run) becomes pregnant with Klaus’ miracle baby, Hope.

We know that Klaus will have an emotional breakthrough in Season 2, but it definitely won’t be that he’s in love with Hayley or that he’s more of a pack-guy than a lone wolf. He bonded with Hayley from the beginning, protected her when Klaus wanted her and the baby to be killed, and THEY KISSED.

And when she did, it was like no time had passed. Before Elijah was bitten by Marcel, fans will recall that he and Hayley finally got together. And Haylijah fans will be happy to hear that five years apart hasn’t changed their feelings.
