To help attract people, Disney offers complimentary shuttle service from the airport to Disney’s hotels and resorts. This airport shuttle service, Disney’s Magical Express, offers free transportation for you and your luggage to and from select Disney Resort hotels. Unfortunately, it isn’t always magical.

An Uber from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World typically costs $30 to $40. We occasionally use Uber as an alternative to Disney’s Magical Express airport shuttle service.

The actual ride from the airport to Disney property takes about half an hour. Each ME bus may transport guests from the airport to three or four different hotels. So, if your hotel is the first stop, then it will take about 35 minutes to get from the airport to the resort once you’re on the road.

Ride the Monorail You can take three different Monorail rides at Walt Disney World, absolutely FREE. The best overall ride is the “inner” Monorail that circles the three Monorail resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian). You can get off and explore each resort, or just enjoy the ride and the view.

Getting around Disney World without a car is easy. Disney has its own fantastic internal travel network. From buses, monorail & ferries you will be transported across Disney World for free from your resort.

With that said, Universal is less expensive than Walt Disney World in most ways. Park tickets and food prices are not particularly noticeable, but the big one is hotel rates. Not only is Universal significantly cheaper, but its resorts include perks that would cost additional money at Walt Disney World.

If you’re staying on Walt Disney World property, free transportation via Magical Express is included with your stay. This means that if you’re on a super strict budget and don’t want to allot any money toward in-vacation transportation, then you can certainly get around Walt Disney World without renting a car.
