If you see the following symptoms mentioned above: Add 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt in 1 gallon of water and spray once in a month on the foliage when your ferns are growing actively. Reduce the quantity to 1 tablespoon per gallon of water, when the growth slows.

Unflavored soda water is good for plants and helps them grow faster. The benefits of the carbonation and minerals in soda water may be negated by the presence of sugar, however. Flavored soda can damage plant roots and render them vulnerable to disease.

Epsom salts are known to be beneficial to some plants in some situations. Primarily, roses, tomatoes, and peppers are the key plants that can take advantage of the magnesium levels contained in Epsom salts.

To boost nutrient intake, mix two tablespoons of Epsom salts with one gallon of water and spray onto leaves, rather than onto the roots, for maximum absorption. Alternately, add the salts directly to the soil: one teaspoon of salts per each foot of plant height.

If your ferns are planted in rich and healthy soil, it is not necessary to water them with epsom salt. However, if your ferns are not thriving and the leaves are turning yellow, then it’s possible that the soil of your ferns could be deficient in magnesium or sulfur.

Plant manuals plainly state that when leaves turn yellow or brown, the fern is a victim of over- or underwatering. Since most ferns come from moist environments, they don’t mind having their feet wet. As an alternate method, water your plants thoroughly until the excess runs into the saucer two or three times a week.
