He won an Academy Award for his role in Good Will Hunting (1997).

In August 2014, at age 63, Robin Williams died by suicide at his home in Paradise Cay, California. His widow, Susan Schneider Williams, medical experts, and the autopsy attributed the suicide to his struggle with Lewy Body Disease. Together with Parkinson’s disease dementia, DLB is one of the two Lewy body dementias.

On his last ever film role, Robin Williams struggled to bring the charm and talent he was known for. Williams reprised his role as Theodore Roosevelt in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb shortly before his death, with filming wrapping up in May 2014 three months before Williams died by suicide that August.

Robin Williams changed the world with comedy. During his time on Comic Relief, he used his comical genius to enlighten the world about homelessness. There was beauty in the way he could turn something so heart-wrenching into light-hearted education.
