It does have electric starting, so it’s not wholly a mount from the 1900s. Given all that, the 2021 Honda XR650L still has its place in the dual sport world.

The XR650R is considerably choked up from the factory, but removing the smog bits and whatever restrictor plates might be left on there opens up a good bit of power/throttle response. The 650R makes 45bhp from the factory, I’ve read, whereas the 650L puts out close to 35.
