The CIA estimated in September 2014 that it had 20,000–31,500 fighters in Iraq and Syria.

After the September 11, 2001 attacks, the U.S. government responded with immediate action (including rescue operations at the site of the World Trade Center and grounding civilian aircraft), and long-term action, including investigations, legislative changes, military action and restoration projects.

The phrase war on terror has been used to specifically refer to the ongoing military campaign led by the U.S., U.K. and their allies against organizations and regimes identified by them as terrorist, and usually excludes other independent counter-terrorist operations and campaigns such as those by Russia and India.

They also consume differently, which has a number of effects, including considerable economic ones. Terrorism changes people’s understanding of reality. Tourist flows are also affected by terrorist attacks, and new investments are generated, particularly in security.

The largest contingents of about 500-900 fighters came from Syria’s neighbors: Lebanese, Iraqis, Palestinians and Jordanians, many of whom fought U.S. forces in Iraq. The second-largest contingent was from Arab countries in North Africa: around 75-300 fighters from Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria.

Literal translation of ash-Shām. The parallel use of both ISIS and ISIL as acronym originated from uncertainty in how to translate the Arabic word “ash-Shām” (or “al-Sham”) in the group’s April 2013 name, which can be translated variously as “the Levant”, “Greater Syria”, “Syria” or even “Damascus”.

In mid-2014, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service obtained information from an ISIL operative which revealed that the organisation had assets worth US$2 billion, making it the richest jihadist group in the world.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), or Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), or Islamic State, (IS) is a Wahabi jihadist militant and terrorist group. In Arabic it is often called “Daesh”. It operates in Libya, Nigeria, Syria and a small part of northern Iraq. It is influenced by the Wahhabi Sect of Islam.

Powers. Isis had great powers of healing, protection, and magic. She could even cast spells on Ra. An example of her powers is when Isis brought Osiris back to life for one night.

Isis was the daughter of the earth god Geb and the sky goddess Nut and the sister of the deities Osiris, Seth, and Nephthys. She was also wife to Osiris, god of the underworld, and bore him a son, Horus. Her cult subsequently spread throughout the Roman Empire, and Isis was worshipped from England to Afghanistan.

Dinka are sometimes noted for their height. With the Tutsi of Rwanda, they are believed to be the tallest people in Africa. Roberts and Bainbridge reported the average height of 182.6 cm (5 ft 11.9 in) in a sample of 52 Dinka Agaar and 181.3 cm (5 ft 11.4 in) in 227 Dinka Ruweng measured in 1953–1954.
