The freefall portion of the skydive will last approximately 60 seconds. After which, at the appropriate altitude of 5,000ft, the parachute will be deployed. Tandem skydivers can expect to spend around four to five minutes sailing amongst the clouds—your instructor may even let you take a turn at flying the parachute!

Results. Among the almost 6.2 million jumps performed by 519,620 skydivers over 10 years between 2010 and 2019, 35 deaths and 3015 injuries were reported, corresponding to 0.57 deaths (95%CI 0.38 to 0.75) and 49 injuries (95%CI 47.0 to 50.1) per 100,000 jumps.

Involuntary urination during skydiving is rare. Fortunately, most first-time skydivers are so pumped up with the adrenaline and overwhelmed by the excitement of their jump that they do not even notice any need to urinate.

So jumping from 15,000ft minus 5000ft when the parchute is deployed gives you a freefall distance of 10,000ft which on average takes about 60 seconds to cover.

Skydiving does not give you that roller coaster stomach drop sensation. The reason why skydiving does not give you a stomach drop sensation is because you are flying in an airplane that is moving forwards at 40-80 mph. This means that your body is already moving at that speed when you exit the airplane.

Many skydivers have a fear of heights It’s true! Many skydivers who jumped hundreds, even thousands, of times do so with a fear of heights. It’s not unusual and it’s certainly not a disadvantage. For those who do fear heights, skydiving is the ultimate rush.

Dehydration! Many customers show up to skydive and say, “I was too nervous to eat. I’m scared I might puke.” Unfortunately, skydiving on an empty stomach can actually increase your odds that you will ride the regurgitation train at 120 mph.
