Fresh eggs can be kept refrigerated for up to 6 weeks but always check the use by date displayed on the carton. It is best to put eggs in the fridge as soon as you get them home.

A cold egg left out at room temperature can sweat, facilitating the movement of bacteria into the egg and increasing the growth of bacteria. Refrigerated eggs should not be left out more than 2 hours.

Freshly laid eggs can be left out at room temperature for at least a month before your need to start thinking about moving them into the fridge. We like to make sure we eat ours in under two weeks (because they tend to taste better), but so long as the egg is eaten within one month of it being laid, you will be fine.

The best way to dispose of expired and raw eggs is in your garbage disposal. Crack your bad eggs and throw the contents down your garbage disposal. Remember not to throw the shells down the drain as they can clog and damage your pipes.

2. Garbage Disposal. Take the egg carton out of the refrigerator and set it on the counter. Getting rid of your expired eggs is easier if you have all of them in one place.
3. Trash Can. Place the eggs inside a plastic bag. You can dispose of the eggs with the carton or without, whichever you prefer.

In case you never realized it, the things you flush down your toilet eventually end up in your septic tank. Do NOT flush: Coffee grounds, eggshells, nut shells. Instead, they’ll clog your toilet, especially swabs, which can easily lodge in pipes and create a logjam.

Eggs will leach the calcium into the soil for root uptake during composting, which can conquer such problems as blossom end rot. However, excess nitrogen and low pH will tie up calcium in soil, preventing uptake. Using eggs as a fertilizer imparts calcium but it isn’t useful if the plant can’t access the nutrient.

Garbage disposals do not have blades. So, putting ice or egg shells down the disposal to sharpen the blades will not do any good. In fact, egg shells are not recommended for the garbage disposal as the membrane can get wrapped around the impellers and cause damage.

Vinegar and Baking Soda First, turn on your garbage disposal. Then pour a cup of dry baking soda down the hatch. Finally, flush the baking soda with a cup of distilled white vinegar. This should go a long way toward cleaning your disposal of any foul smells.

Your plumbing gas will vent through a pipe that goes to the outside of your house, usually on a roof. This means not only would the smell of a rotting animal start going back through your plumbing, but sewage gas that would normally be escaping through the vent is now blocked by the stuck animal.

A simple mixture of baking soda and vinegar is also a good garbage disposal cleaning method. Sprinkle about a half-cup of baking soda into the disposal, followed by a cup of white or apple cider vinegar.

Dilute a tablespoon of liquid chlorine bleach in a gallon of water and slowly pour it into your garbage disposal. Allow the bleach to sit there for a minute or two, then turn on the hot water tap and leave it running for several minutes to flush away the bleach.

It’s perfectly acceptable to run hot water down the drain after you’ve used the disposal, but it’s important that only cold water be used during the food grinding process. Don’t put grease, fat, or fibrous waste into the garbage disposal.
