French consonant The letter L is usually pronounced similarly to L in English, except that it is dental rather than alveolar (see consonant lesson, “place of articulation”). Phonetic symbol: [l]. However, in most words with a vowel plus IL, L is pronounced like a Y.

The masculine singular definite article el is abbreviated when used with the preposition de of and a to.

So, how do we know? In Spanish we can look at the article (the little word that means “the” or “a”) For example: El borrador = the eraser the word “el” tells us that it is masculine. La escuela = the school “la” tells us that it is Feminine. A general rule is “if it ends in “o”, it’s masculine.

As French makes a distinction between “masculine and feminine objects”, people use le for masculine things/persons and la for feminine things/persons. However, in the plural, only les is used whatever the gender is. When the following noun begins with a vowel, le or la becomes l’.

So, French is the second most important language WORLDWIDE after English, and Spanish is third. Yes, Spanish is spoken by more as first language, but French is spoken by far more as second, third or foreign language.

Grammatically French is the easiest one. Italian is probably the most difficult of the three languages grammatically. Even the pronunciation is harder than the Spanish one, it has more phonemes and the difference between double and simple consonants. It also has more consonants the FRench.

The short answer is yes, of course, you can. There is not much of a difference if you learn one language or two, especially if you choose similar ones. And both French and Italian languages are Romance languages which means that they have a lot of common aspects.
