With a download speed of 150Mbps, you can do almost anything you’d like to do at the same time on the internet, on multiple devices at the same time. For instance, you can watch online video on 6 devices at the same time in ultra-HD (4K) quality. With a 150Mbps connection, you can also download files fairly quickly.

Slow speeds can be the result of having an older modem. Make sure you have the right equipment by checking Cox Certified Cable Modems. A good internet speed is at or above 25 Mbps. These speeds will support most online activity, such as HD streaming, online gaming, web browsing and downloading music.

The FCC says the best ISPs for two or more connected devices and moderate to heavy internet use should offer at least 12 megabits per second (Mbps) of download speed. For four or more devices, 25 Mbps is recommended.

A connection speed of 100 Mbps will be fast enough for you to download small files quickly, stream movies in HD, play online games on a handful of devices, and operate a few smart-home devices.

We recommend grabbing at least 50 Mbps download speeds if it’s just you and maybe one other person using the internet. As for families, we think 100 Mbps or more download speed is better. Your internet service’s download speed is measured in megabits per second. Anything above 25 Mbps is considered high-speed internet.

Cox does not have an official speedtest site. Some systems may have a home grown solution in place, but nothing exists for the global audience.
