It’s a fundamental economic principle that when supply exceeds demand for a good or service, prices fall. If there is an increase in supply for goods and services while demand remains the same, prices tend to fall to a lower equilibrium price and a higher equilibrium quantity of goods and services.

The law of demand says that at higher prices, buyers will demand less of an economic good. The law of supply says that at higher prices, sellers will supply more of an economic good. These two laws interact to determine the actual market prices and volume of goods that are traded on a market.

A stable dose of methadone is a safe medication to take, even when pregnant. You can get pregnant and have a normal pregnancy and delivery while on methadone. Talk to ODP staff if you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant. A small amount of methadone can kill a child.

The NAS signs and symptoms will lessen during your baby’s hospital stay. Your baby will stay in the hospital 24 – 48 hours after the last dose of medication is given, for observation. Many babies who need medication for NAS, stay in the hospital up to 3-4 weeks, and sometimes may stay longer.

Methadone, a drug widely used in the treatment of heroin addiction, may impair the fertility and sexual performance of many of the men who take it according to the findings of a preliminary study published yesterday.

The more potent the drug and the longer you take it, the more likely your baby is to be born with NAS. Depending on severity, NAS can cause severe malnutrition and cognitive issues in a newborn. If the drug abuse is significant enough, the baby may even die before it is born.

ANSWER. The exposure of infants to methadone through their mothers’ breast milk is minimal. Women using methadone for treatment of opioid dependence should not be discouraged from breastfeeding. The benefits of breastfeeding largely outweigh any theoretical minimal risks.

These tests detect recent use of cocaine and its metabolites, amphetamines, marijuana, barbiturates, and opiates. Cocaine can be detected in urine 6-8 hours after use in the mother and as long as 48-72 hours after use in the newborn.

Withdrawal symptoms may start as soon as 24 to 48 hours after birth. Or they may start as late as 5 to 10 days after birth. Symptoms may be slightly different for each baby.
