High megapixels mean sharper images (*in most cases). This is plain logics, because there are more megapixels to capture more details, in the same field of view than a lower megapixel camera. So you capture more resolution. Images are devided in more and smaller parts, which all contain their own details.

Fine art photos are images that are created solely for their imaginative or aesthetic quality. It’s the opposite of documentary photography, which seeks to capture life, people, and significant events for memory and historical records.

1. Hang your artwork on the wall. We regularly see artwork photographed leaned up against a wall and shot from a downward angle.
2. Light your work properly. If you are shooting your work indoors, do so in a room with plenty of windows and natural light.
3. Adjust your camera and settings.
4. Edit your photos to perfection.

Neither is better nor worse. A 16 Megapixels camera produces larger images as it’s capturing light using more number of sensors 16 MP against 12 MP. Also, a factor you should consider is the low-light performance of the cameras. So, there’s very little to choose between a 12mp camera and a 16mp camera.

Increasing the number of megapixels keeping everything else constant (sensor size, technology etc.) will increase noise per pixel, but also has the effect of making the noise finer grained which is less objectionable.

Resolution is the fineness of detail in a bitmap image and is measured in pixels per inch (ppi). The more pixels per inch, the greater the resolution. Generally, an image with a higher resolution produces a better printed image quality.
