Integrity for Students

What must a researcher do to fulfill the ethical principle of informed consent? Allow participants to choose whether to take part. Which ethical principle requires that at the end of the study participants be told about the true purpose of the research?

A testable prediction that drives research is known as a(n) Hypothesis.

1. consistently and accurately citing the work of others in their assignments.
2. keeping academic materials and instructor’s intellectual property private (e.g., class slides, assignments, tests, etc.), and not sharing these without the instructor’s permission.

Here are a few behaviors that show integrity:

1. Being dependable and following through on commitments.
2. Being open and honest when communicating with others.
3. Holding yourself accountable and owning up to your shortcomings.

Honesty, by definition, is to tell the truth and being true. Integrity is having strong moral principles based on honesty and to follow those principles religiously.

Integrity is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions.

Honesty: Being honest is being open, trustworthy and truthful. Being honest means that you don’t pretend to be something you are not. With honesty, you can trust things to be as they appear. Integrity: Integrity is standing up for what you believe is right, living by your highest values.

A person can have honesty without integrity, but he or she cannot have integrity without honesty, so honesty is the basis for maintaining integrity of conduct, as integrity means having moral character and living by possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles.

It’s possible to be an honest person with very little integrity, but it’s not possible to be a dishonest person of integrity. At the core of it, honesty means that a person will tell the truth. That’s why integrity encompasses so much more. Integrity deals with moral standards.

When they tell you something you know was difficult, give them a big hug and thank them for being honest with you. The third and most important way of teaching honesty is to be honest yourself. Don’t lie to your children or let them hear you lie to others. If they ask a question you can’t answer, tell them why.
