If the tray is stuck take a really thin paper clip and a pair of pliers and make a little hook that will still thread through the hole but you can angle it to catch on the back side and try to pull the sim tray out manually. Which model iPhone? If you’ve never removed it before it takes a bit of pushing to release it.

How to Take a SIM Card Out of an iPhone

1. Find the SIM card port on the right side of your iPhone.
2. Put the SIM ejection tool into the hole, or your preferred alternative, into the pinhole opening.
3. Apply pressure downward so as not to bend your ejection tool.
4. The SIM tray pops out slightly, allowing you to pull it out.

SIM card trays fail to eject for a variety of reasons. In many cases, the tray is dirty and the debris is actually preventing the ejection from occurring normally. Take a wet wipe or even a damp cloth and clean the area around the tray.

use a paperclip to push the toothpick to push the button to eject the tray. Another idea is to chew up some gum until firm and try to get it down in the hole enough to stick to the toothpick and pull it out.

Use a flashlight and take your time. You will see the tray. Gently use the hook of the paperclip placing the hook end towards the outer frame and catch the sim tray. Use the small distance you created from the 1 to 2 millimeter length of the hook and pull it towards the frame.

Gently catch the tray inside the gap that resides BETWEEN the frame and the mother board and gently pull right till it pops out. The middle box just represents the sim tray. Take your time, you do not want to damage the mother board. It may take you 1 to 3 tries, but you will get it.

Take a medium paperclip and straighten it out. I prefer the paperclips with the plastic over it. Remove some plastic from the end of the paperclip. About a half an inch. Then curve the paperclip at the very end like a small hook. Remove the back of the iPhone and look between the logic board and the side of the frame.
