Chaos War Trade Reading Order

The team traveled to Muir Island to find the remaining pages of Destiny’s Diary. Later on, Moira (possessed by the spirit of Destiny) revealed that they need to call upon and unleash the most primal force of the Earth itself in order to defeat the Chaos King.

Finally we have Pak and Van Lente’s Prince of Power mini, which features Amadeus Cho and is a direct follow-up to The Incredible Hercules. This should be read directly before Chaos War.

The plot concerns a group of mythological gods and others assembled by the Greek god superhero Hercules to battle the Chaos King, the embodiment of the chaos and nothingness that preceded creation, who wants to wipe out all existence.

Even if the truth about which god is really stronger may never be known, Hercules’ choice to throw his (made up) fight reveals that while Thor may or may not be the strongest of all gods – Hercules managed to outclass the Thunder God this time with the strength of his heart.

Tony created the would-be “murder bot” to combat some type of unstoppable alien threat, but in doing so, he was giving into the very same kind of fear that drove Thanos to concoct his genocide of “balance.” This is yet another reason that Thanos fears Stark — he respects the human’s efforts to protect his planet, and …

The Chaos King is in actuality Amatsu-Mikaboshi, a demonic god of evil. The storyline began in Chaos War #1, the first issue of a core miniseries scheduled to run five issues ( cover dates early Dec. 2010 – March 2011). It is written by Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente, with art by penciler Khoi Pham and inker Tom Palmer.

Several dead members of the Avengers, including the Vision, Doctor Druid, Deathcry, Swordsman and the Rita DeMara Yellowjacket, led by the Mar-Vell Captain Marvel, return to Earth and defeat Mikaboshi’s supervillain accomplices, Grim Reaper and Nekra, with most of the group being killed in the battle.

Critical reviews for Chaos War #1 were mostly positive. Doug Zawisza of Comic Book Resources gave it four stars out of five, saying it “could only be made better if it were extra-sized”. IGN rated in 7.0 out of 10, calling it “a fine read that has its problems.

Chaos King refuses, stating that even he needs creation to thrive. As he destroys Nightmare’s heart, he declares that with his death, creation will return to nothingness. On Earth, Doctor Voodoo, Emma Frost, and Uranian sense Hercules, now augmented with more power than he could ever dream, returns to Earth to deliver a warning of doom.
