There is a heightened sense of the unknown and/or mysterious. Are intense (as the dictionary definition reminds us). Horror books convey intense emotion, mood, tone and environments. Together, these produce a sense of ominous possibility.

In a literary work, film, story or other narrative, the plot is the sequence of events where each affects the next one through the principle of cause-and-effect. The causal events of a plot can be thought of as a series of events linked by the connector “and so”. Plot is similar in meaning to the term storyline.

The Film style guideline suggests that “plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words”. The TV style guideline recommends “no more than 200 words” for television episodes in episode lists, or “no more than 400 words” in standalone episode articles.
