Rub a white baking-soda-based toothpaste over the spot to lift the marker away. Squirt a little water-displacing liquid spray, such as WD-40, over the area, then wipe the ink away with a paper towel. Dab some acetone-based nail polish remover over the ink as a last resort to lift the ink away.

To remove permanent marker from ceramic tile, wipe the stain with warm sudsy water. Then dab with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. Wipe with warm sudsy water again. Rinse and dry.

Apply rubbing alcohol to the tip of a cotton swab or a folded paper towel. Wipe the marker stains following the direction of the stain — if the mark goes from left to right, wipe from left to right.
