Sell any items you get in the mail. If you get a fruit that is not native to your town in the mail, make sure to plant it somewhere near your house as soon as you get it. Spend 15 minutes talking to every person in your town at least three times. Sell every item you get and keep the profit.

We have some unfortunate news today regarding online play in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk. This means that as of May 20th it will no longer be possible to open your gate to invite visitors to your town, or visit other towns, over the internet in Wild World and City Folk.

In fact, it gives you a chance to meet some of the town’s residents and come to grips with how life in Animal Crossing works. The tasks are all pretty self-explanatory, and help cover the fundamentals of Animal Crossing.

Gameplay. As in previous Animal Crossing games, New Horizons is a life simulation game played in real time. The game follows a villager customized by the player, who, after purchasing a getaway package from Tom Nook, moves into a deserted island.

As an open-ended life simulation, the Animal Crossing series does not have a set objective – as such, after an introductory sequence at the beginning of the games, players are free to do as they like. The only “objective” in the game, if any, is to pay off the mortgage placed upon the player’s house.

Animal Crossing doesn’t really have an end. At a certain point, you’re given an island rating (1 star) and tasked with improving it to attract more villagers.

Notably, in April 2020, Joshua Wong shared images and slogans related to the protests from his own Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. The Chinese government responded to Wong by making it harder to play the game. Domestic units are locked to servers run by China’s native Tencent, making them easier to censor.

Some ‘Animal Crossing’ players in China are using the game to protest government policies, and now the Chinese government is banning the game.

In July 2015, the ban on video game consoles within the country was completely lifted. According to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Culture, companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft — among others — were now allowed to manufacture and sell video game consoles anywhere in the country.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was banned in the People’s Republic of China since the 10 April 2020. The game was pulled from the store Taobao as players created and posted anti-government messages in-game with a custom pattern tool.

Google Search is partially blocked in China. Requests from the mainland to Google Search, including Google.com and Google.cn, are automatically redirected to Google.com.hk, the company’s Hong Kong servers.
