Pull the drain hose free of the dishwasher pump. Pinch the wire clamp at the other end to disconnect it from the sink. Hold one end of the hose to your faucet and run hot water through it to clear any obstructions. Reverse the disassembly process to reattach both ends of the drain hose.

Check your dishwasher drain hose. The drain hose is kinked, preventing drainage. The drain hose is clogged. The knockout plug is still in place and needs to be removed. The drain hose is hanging down or is too long (it needs to be tacked up to the underside of the counter in order to drain properly)

All portable dishwashers have a pump that pushes water out of the tub and into the drain. If the pump is clogged with food particles or debris, it won’t work properly. Unplug the dishwasher from the power source, and remove the spray arm, spray arm support and bottom rack. Clean out the pump and nearby filters.

You can’t run your dishwasher if your sink is clogged. A clogged sink signifies a blockage within the sink’s drain system. Since your dishwasher typically drains into the same system, running it would cause dirty water to back up into the dishwasher and the sink.

2. Use a natural cleaner made from ¼ cup baking soda followed by ½ cup vinegar.
3. Allow water to run for a few minutes to clear the clog.
