Holding down Ctrl while dragging with the Ellipse tool draws a circle, while holding down Shift draws an ellipse from the center. To change the ellipse into a pie shape or an arc, click the Pie button or the Arc button on the property bar.

When we divide a shape into four equal parts, we call each part a quarter or a fourth.

Place the round cake on a clean surface that you can use for cutting. Position a large cake knife directly over the middle of the cake. Slowly slice into the cake to divide it into 2 equal halves. Don’t slice too quickly because you might accidentally cause crumbs or clumps to break off.

Dividing a circle into four equal parts would create 90˚ or right angles since a circle has a total of 360˚.

1. Open the image file. Menu > File > open.
2. Select “Slice Tool” from Tool box.
3. Right click on “Slice Tool”, there are 3 options. Click on “Select slice tool”
4. You will see, small rectangle icon on the left corner of image.
5. Right click on rectangle icon.
6. A box of “Divide slice” will open.
7. Save the image.

Circle divided into segments or pie shapes

1. Ellipse tool – F7.
2. Drag + Ctrl.
3. Click freehand – F5, Enter “quadrant on top and bottom of circle.
4. Click arrange – transformations – rotate.
5. Set the angle of rotation to 30 degree.
6. I can make the ten part “pizza”, so fat so good.

Select the slice tool, then right click the picture and select Divide Slice. Specify 2 for horizontal and vertical to get 4 equal pieces. You can use those lines as a guide to cut the section yourself, or use Save to Web and it will place all four sections into a folder for you.

If you want to divide your canvas into 3 equal columns using Guides, go into the View menu and choose “New Guide…” In the New Guide dialog box enter “33.33%” in the position field, and press OK. Then repeat the same process but this time enter “66.66%” in the position field.

8. Now you will find that, image is of equal size.

You can change the artboard size by selecting the artboard and changing the options from control panel or from artboard options dialog. There is an artboards panel as well for re-arranging or editing the artboards. You can also create a multiple artboards document while creating a new one(File>New).

The artboard tool in the Tools panel, is grouped with the move tool to create special group layers called artboards that define canvas subareas, and expand the canvas as they are moved. Basically, an artboard is a container with a rectangular boundary that, in many ways, behaves like a layer group.
