Assistant pastors in the United States make an average salary of $38,998 per year or $18.75 per hour. In terms of salary range, an entry level assistant pastor salary is roughly $25,000 a year, while the top 10% makes $58,000.

Church members are free to make personal gifts to ministers and it may or may not be tax free income. If the gift is organized by church leaders, it becomes taxable income.
