In the wild, lions usually live no more than 8 to 10 years because of attacks by humans or other lions, or the effects of goring or kicks from intended prey. In captivity, they may live over 25 years.

Consistent with previous analyses, the researchers find that the most likely origin of lions is eastern-southern Africa. What’s new is the estimated date for the migration of lions out of Africa and into Asia.

Without lions, expect increased poverty, poor health, poaching, desperation, and greater pressure on Western countries to support Africa via aid programs.

Lions have a much better sense of smell than we humans. Female lions will also not allow a male sibling or child to mate with them. They won’t even allow their father to mate with them, if given a chance. But male lions are reasonably powerful so the female lion will rather flee than stay and mate.
