Create a new trailer project in iMovie on Mac

You can’t change the durations in the trailer template. The way you do it is, after creating your trailer, or part of your trailer, select the trailer project icon in the Projects browser window. Then choose File/Convert Trailer to Movie.

You can convert a trailer to a standard movie project, which allows you to edit it in the timeline. In the iMovie app on your Mac, select a trailer in the browser, or double-click a trailer in Projects view to open it. Choose File > Convert Trailer to Movie.

1. In the iMovie app on your Mac, open Projects view.
2. Click Create New, then click Trailer.
3. To preview a trailer template, move the pointer over the template and click the Play button that appears.
4. Click the template you want to use for your trailer.

You select the trailer you made in the project library and from the File menu select convert to project. Open the project. Delete the music that’s there. Put in whatever music you want.

Slow down or speed up video

1. In the Project browser, select one or more video clips or a frame range.
2. Do one of the following: To slow down the selected video, choose Clip > Slow Motion, and then choose a percentage to slow the clip: 50%, 25%, or 10%.

To delete a clip in the storyboard or the shot list, select the clip and press Delete. You can also simply click a new video clip in the browser to replace the clip in the selected placeholder well (or drag it to the well).

iMovie isn’t installed on your iPhone or iPad by default, but you can pick up the iMovie app for free on the Apple App Store.

iMovie can automatically add these titles and transitions as you build your movie. In the iMovie app on your Mac, click Settings in the upper-right corner of the timeline, and then click the Theme button. In the Change Theme window, do one of the following: Choose a theme: Select a theme, and click Change.

Edit titles in your trailer In the iMovie app on your Mac, open a trailer and click the Storyboard tab. To open a trailer, double-click it in Projects view. The storyboard appears, with placeholder text you can edit. The text bars are arranged in the order in which the titles appear in your trailer.

As it stands now, there are no ready-made templates for iMovie, and it doesn’t look like that will change until Apple allows third-party projects. That being said, one of the main things people who use iMovie look for are themes and templates to help with projects.

In either the Title or Transition Browser, click on Set Theme in the upper left corner of the Browser window (just above the standard titles or transitions). Select the Newscast theme. Now all the titles and transitions for that theme will appear in the respective windows.

How to Create an Intro in iMovie

1. Open “iMovie.”
2. Click on “File and Open Project” and open whichever video you would like to add an intro to.
3. Click on “Titles.” This is a tab on the right side of the screen by your clip viewer window.
4. Notice that you have a number of effects you can apply to your intro.
