In the Google Maps app, you should see a small compass symbol visible in the top-right corner, below the button for changing the map terrain and style. If the compass isn’t currently visible, use two of your fingers to move the map view around to display it.

Get directions & show routes

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Search for your destination or tap it on the map.
3. In the bottom left, tap Directions .

Google Earth is great for looking at places and finding information about those places. But you can also use Google Earth to map driving directions, just as you can with Google Maps. In addition, and even more fun, Google Earth actually lets you “drive” your route—in full three dimensional glory.

Navigating Underwater in Google Earth

1. If your mouse has a middle button, hold it down and move the mouse forward or backward.
2. If your mouse has a scroll wheel, press the shift key and scroll.
3. Hold down the shift key and your left mouse button while moving your mouse.

To hide or show the compass icon in the 3D viewer, click View > Compass. See also Showing or Hiding Items in the 3D Viewer. The Google Earth navigation controls offer the same type of navigation action that you can achieve with mouse navigation.

Say it is two o’clock, draw an imaginary line between the hour hand and twelve o’clock to create the north-south line. You know the sun rises in the east and sets in the west so this will tell you which way is north and which way south. If you are in the Southern Hemisphere then it will be the other way round.

The house appears is situated on Hopkins Street in Massachusetts which is a very normal looking street in America. Number plates on the cars however are blurred, but Google does this to protect the privacy of others, houses are not part of Google’s privacy rules.
