The vehicle’s ‘Kerb Weight’ To find out how heavy a car is, you can find the kerb weight in the owner’s manual, as well as sometimes on the V5 registration document (listed as ‘G Mass in Service’) or on a plate located in the car’s door sill.

Gross weight is the total weight of the shipment, including the raw products, its packaging, pallets, containers, and weight of transport vehicle. Net weight refers to the weight of the raw product ordered. Tare weight is the weight of the packaging or container in which goods are shipped.

Your measurements should be in inches. Calculate the surface area of the part of the tire that touches the ground by multiplying the length and width of the footprint. Add the weight of all the tires together to get the total weight of the car.

Minimum kerb would be the lightest weight of the most stripped out model available. Kerb weight is what it actually weighs. Maximum Gross is the maximum all-up permitted weight of the vehicle (i.e when you have all your stuff in). To exceed the latter is an offence – and potentially dangerous.

Remember Curb Weight & GVW (Gross Veh. Weight) are the same exact thing= the weight of the vehicle sitting still, unoccupied in an non operational state. This weight includes fuel, oil, fluids etc… but no passengers or luggage. GVW is the curb weight plus the weight of the passengers and cargo.
