How to Change the Settings on a Webcam

How to Record Video on PC with Windows Video Capture Software

1. Open Game Bar. Tap the Windows key + G on your keyboard.
2. Customize Settings. To adjust the settings, you need to go to Windows Settings and open Gaming.
3. Start Recording.
4. Finish the Recording.

The Camera app in Windows 10 helps run the camera on your computer. Search for it by typing “camera” in the search box on the task bar and select the Camera app from the results. If you want to perform a webcam test to make sure your webcam is working correctly, running the Camera app is the best way to start.

1. Open your web cam in a chat program, such as Skype.
2. Choose the “Camera Settings” option and another window will open, labeled “Properties.” There are more options here that can be adjusted.

Indoor lighting is typically quite poor for most webcams. They only have a physically tiny sensor with limited light capturing ability. This means they have to turn the gain (amplification) up quite high which in turn also amplifies noise making the image look terrible. Try it in daylight to see if it looks better.

If you are on the Start Screen of Windows 10, click on the Camera app, and select Search. Click on the Camera icon presented in the results of the search. You will need to click on the settings you want to change like: change to a different webcam, Set the self-timer, Change the exposure and Spot adjust.

Put something on the lens. It needs to be transparent enough to let light through, but not totally transparent. Also it needs to be either something not damaging to the lens or the camera casing, or something solid you can hold in place with painters’ tape. My suggestion would be Vaseline or a similar petroleum jelly.

Launch Windows 10’s built-in camera app and click on the Settings icon. Enable Pro Mode to access the advanced options. Use the slider to put your brightness higher. Close the Camera app.

Change camera settings

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then select Settings.
3. Select Options.
4. Adjust the settings for each option. These might include: Change the photo aspect ratio or video quality. Turn location info on or off. Show or hide grid lines.

To control the camera in your Zoom Room:

1. Start or join a meeting.
2. Tap the Camera Control icon.
3. Use the icons on the Camera Control popup to zoom and pan until the camera is in the position you need.
4. Tap Done to return to the meeting controls.

A dim webcam image can be caused by a variety of factors, including poor lighting, excess reflection, dark clothing and visual “noise” in the background. To maximize the output of your live image, you can increase the brightness of the picture by experimenting with different approaches.

Touch up my appearance

1. In the Zoom desktop client, click your profile picture then click Settings.
2. Click the Video tab.
3. Click Touch up my appearance.
4. Use the slider to adjust the effect.

Under Teams, there are no options to allow you to change the camera setting for zooming or any other camera options.

next to your profile picture at the top of Teams and then choose Settings > Devices. Under Audio devices, pick the speaker and mic you want Teams to use by default. Under Camera, select the camera you want Teams to use, and see a preview of that camera’s video.

Follow these steps to select the correct camera to use in Teams:

1. Click on your profile icon in the upper-right and select Settings.
2. Select “Devices”
3. In the “Camera” menu, select your camera; it will probably be called “Microsoft Camera Front”
4. You should see a preview below of what your camera sees.

Click the ‘More actions’ icon (three-dot menu) on the meeting toolbar. Then, select ‘Device Settings’ from the menu that appears. The panel for Device Settings will appear on the right. Go to ‘Camera’ and change camera settings from the drop-down menu.

You can control cameras in the meeting when you have some participants as attendees. Going to Participants menu you can then click on Disable Camera for attendees.

Here is how you do that: Open the Teams desktop app in advance if you are not using your phone for the meeting. Click your name, which appears in the upper right-hand corner. Choose settings, which is represented by a gear icon. A pop-up should appear in the Settings menu.

Teams crops some videos to make them fit your screen better. If you want a different view of a particular video—for example, if someone’s cropped out of the video or it only shows part of their face—right click and select Fit to frame to see the entire video. Select Fill frame to see a closer, cropped view.

Activate the New Meeting Experience

1. From the options select Large gallery.
2. The Large gallery view will let you see up to 49 participants at once. This view will only be available when there are 10 or more attendees who are sharing video.

On Zoom everyone’s video is the same size and on Teams it adjusts the sizes to fit the screen. As an attendee, you can pin anyone else’s video so that person’s video becomes large in size. Teams and Zoom don’t allow you to do this.
