Aluminum Tank & Tank Accessories, Inc. has been granted a Special Permit from the the U.S. Department of Transportation that authorizes the manufacture, make and sale refueling tanks for use with Diesel, Gasoline, Kerosene, Ethanol, Methanol and Aviation Fuel.

DOT Tank. Our fuel tanks have been granted a Special Permit from the Department of Transportation (DOT). This special permit allows the end user to refuel their vehicles, equipment, or machinery without having to remove the fuel tank from the transporting vehicle.

Both types of engines are incompatible with each other’s fuel. That is, you can’t run a diesel engine on gasoline, and you can’t run a gasoline engine on diesel. Diesel is too thick for a gasoline’s fuel pump system, and gasoline creates too large of an explosion for a diesel engine to handle.

It’s not advisable to store gasoline in just any container. Gasoline must be stored in firmly sealed aluminum, high-carbon steel, hard plastic, or fiberglass storage tanks labeled “gasoline.”

1. STEP 1: Confirm that you have access to Engines and Vehicles Compliance Information System (EV-CIS).
2. STEP 2: Update manufacturer information in EV-CIS.
3. STEP 3: Review all applicable regulations and guidance.
4. STEP 4: Pay appropriate certification fees, as applicable.

Can I use your refueling tanks for gasoline legally? Yes, we manufacture our aluminum refueling tanks to meet and exceed the requirements for gasoline, kerosene, methanol, and diesel. In fact, many government agencies are currently using our aluminum refueling tanks.

Since diesel fuel has an octane rating of 25-30, pumping diesel fuel into a gas tank can lower the octane level needed and cause damage to the gas engine. All of this can cause significant damage to the engine and interconnected parts that work together to make your car go.

Gasoline must be stored in firmly sealed aluminum, high-carbon steel, hard plastic, or fiberglass storage tanks labeled “gasoline.” For long-term storage, diesel fuel tanks are the best bet! According to the Federal Government’s official guidelines, 10-50 gallons semi-portable tanks are a great choice for storing gasoline at residential complexes.
