Google, in its documentation, also mentions that this feature, in addition to helping developers, “also gives users a way to control the sensors in their device.” To enable developer options, launch the “Settings” app on your Android phone, scroll down to the bottom of the menu, and open the “About Phone” section.

To test for resistance, set the DVOM to Ohms scale. Unplug the sensor and connect either leads to the DVOM probes. Read the Ohm or resistance values and compare them to those of the manufacturer. If they don’t match, the sensor is defective.

Check for Dust or A Crack on the Screen Sensor. Take a long look at your phone’s screen, check to see if there’s dust on it and wipe it down with a clean cloth. Test to see if it works now. A crack on your phone’s touchpad or scratches could also affect this function.

Android 10 includes a reference implementation that handles the camera, microphone, and SensorManager sensors. The system service that manages the Sensors off state and notifies clients of state changes is located in frameworks/base/services/core/java/com/android/server/SensorPrivacyService.

1. From a Home screen, tap Phone (lower-left).
2. Tap Menu .
3. Tap Call settings or Settings. If needed, tap Call on the settings page.
4. Tap Turn off screen during calls to enable or disable. Enabled when a checkmark is present.

The proximity sensor is located at the top of your phone and if you hold the screen at a slight angle, you can see the sensors. They look like small holes covered by the screen glass and are close to the speaker.

To unhide the Developer options menu:

1. 1 Go to “Settings”, then tap “About device” or “About phone”.
2. 2 Scroll down, then tap “Build number” seven times.
3. 3 Enter your pattern, PIN or password to enable the Developer options menu.
4. 4 The “Developer options” menu will now appear in your Settings menu.
