Atlantic Ocean

Atlantic Ocean, body of salt water covering approximately one-fifth of Earth’s surface and separating the continents of Europe and Africa to the east from those of North and South America to the west. The ocean’s name, derived from Greek mythology, means the “Sea of Atlas.” It is second in size to the Pacific Ocean.

Regionally, the term refers to the coastal states and area east of the Appalachian Mountains that have shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean, from north to south, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and …

The Yellow Sea is a marginal sea of the Western Pacific Ocean located between mainland China and the Korean Peninsula, and can be considered the northwestern part of the East China Sea. Since 1 November 2018, the Yellow Sea has also served as the location of “peace zones” between North and South Korea.

Europe

It is called the Yellow River because its waters carry silt, which give the river its yellow-brown color, and when the river overflows, it leaves a yellow residue behind. The water damages housing and crops across the North China Plain, an important agricultural region.

Huang He

Citing accounts from different authorities, it said that since the 1960s there have been at least 10,000 bodies found floating within an 80km-stretch of the Yellow River. But Lanzhou police bureau spokesman Huang Xiaoping said most of the bodies in the river were people who died from accidents and suicides.

Every day, Mr Wei rows out to a temporary footbridge on the river. It is at this point the bodies can go no further. Since starting his business seven years ago, Mr Wei says he has collected about 500 bodies. Some of them have been murdered, while others have drowned or committed suicide.

The name ‘China’ comes from the Sanskrit Cina (derived from the name of the Chinese Qin Dynasty, pronounced ‘Chin’) which was translated as ‘Cin’ by the Persians and seems to have become popularized through trade along the Silk Road.

Yellow River’s History Civilization is thought to have first developed during the Neolithic Age, more than 3000 years ago (6000-800 BCE). During this time period there was a vast development of many cultures, based on region, around the river.

China

Also called the “River of Sorrow,” the Yellow River is one of the world’s most dangerous and destructive rivers during floods. The Huang He River stretches across China for more than 2,900 miles. It carries its rich yellow silt all the way from Mongolia to the Pacific Ocean.
