If you’re wondering where are golf clubs made, Titleist has its own golf club manufacturing plant in Carlsbad, California. They also produce their world-renowned golf clubs near the headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Authentic golf clubs have a serial number on the hosel of each wood and on the 5-iron or the 7-iron (depending on the model) in each set of irons. If your club does not have that serial number, it may not be genuine.

The “AP3” is stamped higher on the club, just a bit closer in the direction of the sole on the fake club. The club number on the sole is very close, but there are subtle differences that you can see when you compare it to the real thing. The number is a little thicker and smaller.

Titleist originally released its 718 AP2 and 718 AP3 back in 2017, and ever since the AP3s — the higher-end irons, with a unique hollow blade design which allows players with higher swing speeds to hit the ball even further — have been used a number of professionals on the PGA Tour.

During testing, a 718 AP3 4-iron averaged 6 yards more carry distance when compared to a 718 AP2 4-iron at moderate swing speeds. An average of 84 grams of tungsten was packed into the heel and toe of the 3-7 irons to optimize trajectory and enhance forgiveness.

The AP3, which fits between the AP1 and AP2, is intended to provide some of the forgiveness of the former with some of the shotmaking ability of the latter for players wanting more distance and forgiveness without sacrificing feel. Add one and two and you get three.

For these reasons, several Titleist staff players such as Adam Scott and Jimmy Walker added AP3 long irons to their bags at PGA Tour events this summer. The AP3 short irons feature a cast 17-4 stainless steel body and face insert, while the pitching wedge and gap wedge are both solid 17-4 stainless steel castings.

The Titleist 718 AP3 isn’t a bad iron, but it’s a victim of the hype. It is a good looking iron – if you can get past the offset – but it’s lacking in feel and forgiveness. In a crowded market of forgiving players iron, the AP3 doesn’t stand out.

Titleist Ap1 Vs Ap2 Vs Ap3 The ap2 is less expensive but still performs well. The ap3 is for beginners who want an inexpensive option that will get them started on their journey in golf.

If you’re pumped for feel and accuracy, you may want to go with the AP2. Aside from being forged, it has normal lofts and a softer feel. But if you want more distance, improved forgiveness, larger head, and solid loft, the AP3 has it all.
